My urban public school classroom is a fully inclusive in Pennsylvania. 100% of our school qualifies for free and reduced lunch. Like many schools, our class sizes have grown increasingly large, due to budget cuts. Many of my students begin the school year lacking basic concepts such as letter, number, name, shape or sound identification, yet end the year proficient in those concepts. Some of our students live in shelters with their mothers for addiction and abuse issues. When not in school, they are in childcare, while their mothers attend recovery meetings, and sometimes do not have time for exploratory, enriching play activities available to them. Some other students are considered homeless, while they live with other families, and may not have their own beds, yet alone enriching play areas
