With MarioKart 8 and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, students have learned to navigate friendly competition, practice good sportsmanship, and support one another as they refine their skills. We've even begun expanding into new learning opportunities—our next goal is to introduce Minecraft so students can collaborate, problem-solve, and work together to build and survive in a shared world. The technology has provided an engaging, hands-on way for students to strengthen social skills, teamwork, and communication in a setting they genuinely look forward to.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is the chance to compete each week while spending time with friends. The Pro Controllers and Switch setup have made it easy for multiple students to play together, and the club has become something they talk about long after meetings end. One student in particular has especially thrived with this new resource. He began the year very shy, often barely speaking when it was just the two of us meeting. As the club grew, he became more confident—helping new members learn the games, offering tips, and joking with peers. The Switch has even supported our schoolwide PBIS efforts; during a recent incentive event for third through fifth graders, ten students participated and demonstrated healthy, positive competition while taking turns and encouraging one another.\r\n\r\nOverall, this project has given our students not just a gaming system, but a space to belong, grow, and enjoy time with their peers.
