Students have been enjoying and having a fun time using the new equipment. One student was so excited about the Hippo float that he makes sure to play with it each time he's at the pool. Other students were excited to try out new items, including the large mermaid tail to float and kick with. \r\n\r\nThe majority of students at Widener use wheelchairs to move around on land, but in the pool, they are able to move around and be more independent. Students look forward to their pool sessions and it is amazing to get to see them be so active. These items have shown the students that others care about their schooling and want them to have enhanced experiences in the water. \r\n\r\nThese donated items will continue to be used for students to engage with and help build their skills in the pool. Our goal at Widener is to get as many students as we can in the pool to experience a new environment (e.g., buoyancy of the water) that let's them move differently than on land. Seeing their smiles each day is a gift that you have helped contribute too.","fullyFundedDate":1758293266442,"projectUrl":"project/special-ed-pool-equipment/9674327/","projectTitle":"Special Ed Pool Equipment","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kelsey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10237445_orig.jpg?crop=1440,1440,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756828631149","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10237445"},{"teacherId":9577880,"projectId":9317785,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for making our end-of-year celebration possible through your generous support of our DonorsChoose project!\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students were able to experience a joyful, hands-on celebration that was full of movement, laughter, and meaningful engagement. Your donation brought in wonderful items like painting canvases, bubble solution, carnival-style games, and a giant Connect 4 set—which quickly became a class favorite! It was amazing to watch my students learn how to play Connect 4 so quickly and take pride in every win, every turn, and every cheer.\r\n\r\nThe carnival games brought so much excitement and gave my students the chance to interact in new and fun ways. The sensory-rich experiences of touching the bubbles, moving through the games, and creating colorful paintings allowed every child to participate, feel included, and celebrate the end of the school year in a way that was meaningful and accessible to them.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our classroom. Your generosity has helped create a more comfortable and sensory-friendly environment for my students, and we are so grateful.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the students were very excited to receive new items for our classroom. They immediately began exploring the sensory tiles and enjoying the comfort of the new rug. These resources are already being used for sensory time, and the students are really enjoying the calming experience they provide.\r\n\r\nWhile we're currently using these materials to support sensory exploration and comfort throughout the day, I plan to use them even more next school year as part of a dedicated calm-down corner in our classroom.
