Who knew what a difference a cozy breakfast in the morning would make? Students devoured the tea, hot chocolate, and breakfast snacks. Yes, we offer free breakfast in the cafeteria, but it is usually cold and unappealing. It is such a nice start on a cold winter morning to make a nice hot cup of tea. I apologize that the pictures I share don't show the beautiful display we started with. The students gobbled up the goods quickly! I'm glad they did. \r\n\r\nThere was one story in particular that I thought you would appreciate. We have a new student. She is in the foster care system and struggling. She hasn't eaten in several days, but she was able to stomach a cup of hot chocolate. The organizers we got have made more of a difference than I imagined! I have a space where new or absent students can very easily find the work they've missed. We just had to deal with losing stuff and waiting for you to get a new paper.\" I have administration and coaches come in and complement this new tool as well.\r\n\r\nThe surprise came with the new way to organize the different papers we need in a math class. I did not realize how much easier it would make things and create new opportunities. Each day, I have one student be in charge of making the posters we hang around the room all year to help us remember the new math vocab we are learning. Teachers normally make this, but with easy access, it's so much better to have students do it themselves!
