When the students first saw the tablets and charging station, the room was filled with audible gasps and a chorus of \"Whoa!\" and \"Are these for us?\" One student actually did a little victory dance at their desk! It wasn't just about the \"newness\" of the gadgets; it was the realization that they finally had the modern tools necessary to bring their biggest ideas to life. Seeing their faces light up made it clear: your gift told them that their education and their future are worth the investment.\r\n\r\nWe wasted no time putting these resources to work. Last week, we launched our \"Digital Storytelling\" project, where students are using the tablets to record and edit their own mini-documentaries about local ecosystems. I watched a group of students, who usually struggle with traditional writing assignments, become absolute leaders in their teams as they navigated the editing software to sync voiceovers with photos they took on our nature walk. The technology didn't just make the work easier; it removed the barriers that were keeping their creativity locked away.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, our next step is to dive into introductory coding. Now that the students are comfortable with the hardware, we will be using the tablets to program basic commands for our virtual robotics unit. This project is shifting from a lesson in \"how to use a device\" to \"how to build a solution.\" Because of your support, my students are no longer just consumers of technology—they are becoming the creators and problem-solvers of tomorrow. When the boxes of mindfulness resources—the yoga mats, weighted lap pads, and \"calm-down\" kits—first arrived, the atmosphere was electric. My students were wide-eyed and buzzing with curiosity; one student even asked, \"Are these really just for us to help our brains feel better?\" There was a genuine sense of pride and ownership as they helped unbox each item, realizing that people they've never met invested in their well-being.\r\n\r\nWe have integrated these tools into our daily \"Reset Minutes.\" For example, during a particularly high-energy transition after recess last Tuesday, we used the new chime to signal a breathing exercise. One student, who often struggles with sensory overwhelm, immediately reached for a textured fidget from our new kit and was able to settle into his seat without the usual frustration. Seeing them independently recognize when they need to use the \"Peace Corner\" has been the most rewarding shift; they are no longer just reacting to stress, but actively managing it with the tools you provided.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are moving into a unit on Emotional Literacy. Now that the students have the physical resources to self-regulate, we will be using our new journaling prompts to help them connect their physical sensations to specific emotions. Our next big goal is for students to lead their own \"Mindful Minute\" at the start of our morning meetings. You haven't just given us \"things\"; you've given these children a lifelong skill set for navigating a busy world. In our busy school day, the last few months your donations have made Room 103 a room full of masterpieces. This is fueled by your kindness has become a sanctuary for many. I have watched students who struggle with traditional subjects find their confidence while blending paints or sketching with new markers. These tools allow them to process their thoughts and decompress, proving that art isn't just an extra—it's an essential part of their well-being and success. \r\n\r\nAs we just wrapped up our first art show watching students walk around and look at the creative process that your donations made possible I can't thank you enough. You made so many things possible my students confidence being the biggest. I can tell you in September that was not the case, there were many of them afraid to try art for the first time. Now I have multiple students who have found an outlet and many more talents they never knew they had. When the donation came through my art materials were diminishing at a rate that was beginning to frighten me without you, I could not \r\nhave made this happen.","fullyFundedDate":1764780024855,"projectUrl":"project/art-starts-with-you-be-the-spark-behind/9562810/","projectTitle":"Art Starts with You: Be the Spark Behind a Masterpiece","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Adams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10062585_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754676002380","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10062585"},{"teacherId":9523651,"projectId":9192955,"letterContent":"Since receiving the new supplies and rug, they've become an everyday part of how we learn and work together. The rug has completely changed our whole-group lessons—it's now our go-to spot for mini-lessons, read-alouds, and class discussions. One moment that really stood out was during a math lesson on multi-step volume problems, when students gathered on the rug to model their thinking with the new materials and explain their strategies to classmates. Having a comfortable, shared space made students more willing to participate, listen to one another, and take academic risks. The supplies have also helped students stay organized and focused during independent and small-group work, which has made our classroom feel calmer and more purposeful.\r\n\r\nWhen students first walked in and saw the rug and new materials, their reaction was immediate excitement—lots of smiles, comments, and questions about when we could use them. Several students told me the rug made the room feel more welcoming and \"like a real learning space.\" Looking ahead, we'll continue using these resources as we dive deeper into problem-solving projects, collaborative discussions, and independent practice tied to our current math and reading units. The next steps include using the rug for peer feedback circles and strategy sharing, while the supplies will support hands-on learning and help students build confidence as they tackle more complex tasks. We received so many amazing resources and I want to tell you how we have been using them so far this school year.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite classroom items are communication folders. They are sturdy folders that are great to send home each day with homework and important papers for students to give to their parents. Student's bring them back the next day and I can check them. These folders are amazing because they last all year and they help me ensure that parents are receiving important papers from school.\r\n\r\nPencils of course are an important necessity! We go through them so quickly and I love that these particular pencils come pre-sharpened. The expo markers and erasers are great to use with our mini white boards.
