Your kindness allowed the scholars in my class to receive valuable materials that have made our school days a little bit easier.\r\n\r\n As you are aware, my class is made up of ten autistic students. Many of the items donated support their sensory and motor needs. The sensory seat has been a big hit in the class. Many of my scholars use it when they need to regulate and calm down. Many of the major behavior issues have decreased just by using the sensory seat as a motivator. Several of the items donated have helped some my scholars with improved handwriting skills as well. My favorite donation has been the wireless doorbell. Most of my scholars are improving their ability to independently transition from one task to another without multiple verbal prompts. \r\n\r\n Some of the items that we originally selected were unavailable when we were ready to make our big purchase. Delayed doesn't always mean denied. We were able to substitute the unavailable items for some reflective vests that we now use during recess and gym outside. Your generous support now aids in ensuring that all of my scholars are visible outside in the busy school yard. This is essential with preventing them from possibly eloping from our designated space outside. \r\n\r\nWe look forward to using these donations for years to come. You all have really helped with enhancing the quality of education for my scholars. You are greatly appreciated.","fullyFundedDate":1728535803453,"projectUrl":"project/starting-all-over-again/8793602/","projectTitle":"Starting All Over Again","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Grazier","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8161752_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726586117842","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8161752"},{"teacherId":8186396,"projectId":8495289,"letterContent":"I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for your generosity. At the beginning of the school year, I felt like the room needed to be a little more organized. I wanted to set a great example of cleanliness and order for my 5th graders. I also wanted to incorporate them in the maintenance of the space because it is their space as well. This project was created to get some of the more expensive items that would help to keep our space clean and functional.\r\n\r\nBecause of your donations, we have been able to maximize the use of our classroom space. The students know where things are, so they don't have to interrupt instruction in order to get things that they need. The fifth graders have also taken pride in keeping the space clean themselves. Everyday someone volunteers to sweep, and to tidy up before we leave for the day. They love the broom and dustpan set. \r\n\r\nThanks to you, 201 is a warm and welcoming space. The students have somewhere clean and tidy to complete their assignments. We receive compliments about the cleanliness of our classroom regularly. The mobile desk makes it easy for me to move around the classroom helping scholars without invading their personal space. I have also been more organized this year which makes my teaching life more effective and efficient. Thank you so much for investing in us.","fullyFundedDate":1730932825267,"projectUrl":"project/keep-it-clean/8495289/","projectTitle":"Keep It Clean!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gibbs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8186396_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721144696881","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8186396"},{"teacherId":8186396,"projectId":8477794,"letterContent":"I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. My scholars and I started this school year with the bare bones of some semblance of a writing curriculum. As we embarked upon the new school year, all while beginning to use a new ELA curriculum, we became very aware of how many things we needed in order to really become effective and efficient writers. It left us in a bit of a funk. I really wanted to make writing enjoyable for my scholars. \r\n\r\nAnd then there was unpacking day! When the packages began to arrive, I collected them to open all at once. It was like Christmas. I witnessed pure elation come over my scholars as they were given the items that were ordered. The colored pencils with erasers, the composition books, and the writing folders quickly became the favorite items amongst both of my classes. \r\n\r\nIt is amazing how these items have touched my students. I couldn't have imagined how something like the ability to sharpen a pencil with ease could ignite such a passion for writing. Words cannot express my gratitude. Thank you so much for pouring into my students. Currently, 5th grade has the highest percentage growth academically in ELA in the whole school! It is all thanks to you!","fullyFundedDate":1731077106852,"projectUrl":"project/write-with-mrs-gibbs/8477794/","projectTitle":"Write With Mrs. Gibbs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gibbs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8186396_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721144696881","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8186396"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_90892","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":292,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":88,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.7,"schoolId":90892,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ellwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ellwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/philadelphia-city-school-district/ellwood-elementary-school/90892"}
