I have been a teacher at Ellwood for 20 years. I have taught thousands of students both as a classroom teacher and as a reading specialist. The students at Ellwood, although economically disadvantaged, continue to have a passion for learning. They love being a part of a team, and love learning about the world they live in. They all have big dreams and high hopes for their futures. Although they face many challenges, their safe haven is coming to school each and every day. I try each and every day to make my students independent learners, creative thinkers, and kind and compassionate people. I want them to be respectful , accountable and mindful both in the classroom and in the world they live in.A quote they often hear me say is 'I must teach your heart before I can teach your mind."
