Your kindness has given my students the ability to focus while they are completing their online reading assignments. My students also take their benchmarks online and this has given the ones that have trouble reading space to be read to by the reading program. This is giving them the opportunity to be successful and show academic growth. With the funding, I was also able to get rewards to incentivize academic growth on benchmarks, along with necessary items like, Clorox wipes to keep the headphones sanitized, hand sanitizer and tissues. Being able to reward my students has encouraged students to want to take ownership of their learning. It has also, allowed me to work with smaller groups, while some students are working independently on their online assignments, without being distracted by our voices. Having these headphones in the classroom has allowed me to create a classroom environment that helps me meet my students' needs. Headphones may not be a big deal to some, but to us the impact has been huge!\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for your donation. As our school operates in a lower income neighborhood at a historically underfunded city school, access to quality school supplies is unfortunately rare and often comes out of my own pocket. With this donation, I let out a sigh of relief to see our supplies so well stocked, while students' eyes lit up seeing a full pencil box. Instead of students arguing over pencils not having erasers or me stressing having to ration printer paper, we can focus our time and energy on more important tasks like the lessons at hand. Sand trays and letter beads provide tactile practice of learned concepts during small group instruction that are scientifically shown to help students better retain content. All of the students love the pop its that we use to both tap out phonemes in words and for group reading games. \r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you. Students who consistently missed breakfast and complained of being hungry were actually able to eat every single morning, thus focusing their attention on learning instead of a grumbling stomach. Being in first grade, it is often not their fault they are late to school, yet it still has major impacts on them. Even more important, the snacks purchased were healthy ones such as apple sauce and fruit bars. This fueled students to further their learning, as opposed to the usual crash of sugary snacks. It got them excited about eating healthy, as they felt so special when I brought out the box of snacks. It also strengthened school and family connections as their caregivers were very pleased to hear about the healthy snacks being eaten at school. \r\nMost important to this were the plastic bins and wire rack donated from this project, as without them, the mice and roaches would have immediately eaten all the snacks. But now, we can save extra snacks and breakfast foods in the air tight containers to prevent pests and give them to students who need them. I also have a place to keep our extra pairs of clean clothes so they are well organized and avoid dust and dirt. In our math blocks, these allow students to work through complex problems on their desks and whiteboards, making \"mistakes\" feel less permanent and math feel more like an interactive game.\r\n The coloring markers have been a massive hit for our creative writing projects. Watching our young authors illustrate their original stories with vibrant colors has added a whole new layer of pride to their literacy work.\r\nFinally, thank you for the Sweetest Motivation. Let's be honest, finishing the school year strong is hard work! The Ring Pops have been the perfect \"Focus Fuel.\" They are a highly coveted reward that has helped our students stay on task, follow directions, and keep their energy up during these warm May afternoons.\r\n\r\nIn a large urban district like ours, these \"extra\" supplies often come out of teachers' pockets or simply go missing.
