While many students are familiar with capturing video on their phones, this technology has introduced them to the technical side of cinematography and digital stability. By using the gimbal, they aren't just \"taking a video\"; they are learning about axis stabilization, fluid motion, and the physics of high-quality production.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part of this new gear for the students is the \"wow\" factor of the hardware itself. In a world where much of their technology is purely software-based, having, high-tech tool that moves with precision is incredibly engaging. My students are able to transition from being casual users to student producers, planning their shots and ensuring the audio from the new microphone was crisp and professional. This gear has given them the \"cool\" factor they crave while teaching them the discipline required for high-level digital storytelling.\r\n\r\nThis project will continue to have a lasting impact for years to come. Because this is a high-quality, durable set of tools, it serves as a \"specialized resource\" that students look forward to using for specific, high-stakes projects. My AP Physics students recently had the chance to test out the motion detectors and they were wonderfully easy to use. After forming a bluetooth connection with their laptops they almost instantly started producing motion graphs on their screens with very little set up. For my AP students we graphed the motion of falling coffee filters as we studied the drag effect. For my honors students we will be using the detectors to graph our own motion as we run and jump in front of the sensors.\r\n\r\nGiving students the opportunity to experiment directly on their own moving bodies is such a terrific way to make physics more tangible and you have made that possible.
