My students are at an important point in their reading development, and we spend a lot of time each day working on phonics—tapping out sounds, building words, and practicing new spelling patterns. Whiteboards are a huge part of that work because they allow students to try, erase, and try again without worrying about mistakes.\r\n\r\nBefore this project, our whiteboards and supplies were in rough shape. Many boards were scratched or stained, markers dried out quickly, and erasers were often missing or didn't work well. This made it harder for students to fully participate and sometimes caused frustration during lessons.\r\n\r\nOnce we received the new whiteboards, markers, and erasers, participation immediately improved. Every student had the tools they needed to write sounds, blend words, and show their thinking during our phonics block. The magnetic word-building materials were especially helpful, giving students a hands-on way to move letters around and build words while practicing phonics and decoding skills.\r\n\r\nThese materials were used every day and helped create a smoother, more positive learning environment. When students had supplies that worked well, they were more confident, more willing to take risks, and more engaged in their learning. This project truly supported my students as they grew into stronger, more confident readers.","fullyFundedDate":1764099004751,"projectUrl":"project/mark-erase-repeat-phonics-tools-for/9912048/","projectTitle":"“Mark, Erase, Repeat: Phonics Tools for the Classroom”","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Robosky","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/wamig"},{"teacherId":5812232,"projectId":9652727,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom now receives Scholastic News, and it has already transformed the way my students read and think about the world around them. \r\n\r\nWith these nonfiction texts, my students are learning key literacy skills that are difficult to teach using storybooks alone. Instead of losing time searching for supplies, students grab what they need and get to work right away.
