Because of your support, my Language Arts 12 students will be able to engage in a full novel study for the first time in six years—and the impact has been profound.\r\n\r\nFor many of our students, this will only be their second opportunity in high school to read, discuss, and analyze an entire novel together as a class. With your donated books, we built a literary analysis unit centered on close reading, discussion, and critical thinking. Students will annotate complex passages, track character development and themes over time, and practice making evidence-based interpretations through both written analysis and collaborative discussion.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the novels allowed students to experience what it means to stay with a text—to wrestle with ambiguity, notice patterns across chapters, and refine their thinking as their understanding deepened. Several students shared that this was the first time they saw themselves represented in a text required for school. \r\n\r\nYour donation did more than provide books; it restored an experience that had been missing from our curriculum. It reminded students that their ideas and stories are worth developing, revising, and sharing—and that literature can be challenging, relevant, and deeply human.\r\n\r\nThank you for making rigorous, meaningful learning possible for my students. With all the research about how writing well dramatically improves student outcomes in every other discipline, it is critical to award and encourage excellence in writing.\r\n\r\nStudents who perform the magic of transferring their critical thinking into eloquent words that others can understand and utilize appreciate being seen for their talents and efforts as seen in this photo.\r\n\r\nEach month, our language arts department will recognize a new student for their outstanding efforts and talents in the area of writing. I look forward to seeing more winners!
