While many of you use headphones at home to enjoy music or take calls, in our classroom, these new headsets serve as essential tools for focus and fluency. They allow my students to use the district WordFlight program, where they can work on text structures and strengthen their vocabulary. This bridge between hearing and seeing words is helping them decode language faster than ever, turning our room into a quiet, focused hub of active readers.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part of this new technology for the students is the integrated microphone feature. They are absolutely thrilled to record themselves reading aloud and then play it back to hear their own progress. In the past, reading aloud in front of the class could be intimidating, but now, it feels like a private game where they can \"level up\" their skills. They treat these recordings like mini-podcasts, often beaming with pride when they realize they've mastered a particularly tricky sentence. It has turned a once-daunting task into a high-tech personal challenge.\r\n\r\nI've been particularly moved by how these headsets have empowered my English Language Learners and students who struggle with auditory processing. One student in particular, who used to be easily overwhelmed by the ambient noise of a busy classroom, has completely blossomed. With his headset on, the \"noise\" of the world fades away, allowing him to focus entirely on the phonics lessons at hand. He went from being several levels behind in reading to participating confidently in class discussions, simply because he finally has the \"quiet\" he needs to learn. Your gift of headsets hasn't just provided gear; it has provided individual sanctuaries where my students can finally hear themselves succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1739372319974,"projectUrl":"project/headsets-to-help-literacy/8956594/","projectTitle":"Headsets to Help Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Woods","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9612477_orig.jpg?crop=529,530,x0,y37&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752882328274","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9612477"},{"teacherId":10083074,"projectId":9543934,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to our 7th grade math classroom at Midwest City Middle School! The additional bean bag chair has allowed me to create a cozy corner for the students to use either to chill out or when they're allowed to read after they are done with work. I think the students would love if I had bean bag chairs instead of regular chairs. I may need to start doing a rotation of students each day so they all get the chance to hangout in the cozy corner.\r\n\r\nThe two wobble stools have been another big hit. I will need to get some more of them as well. The only time I haven't allowed students to use them is when we had our beginning of year district testing. I wanted everyone to be on equal ground with their seats because they get used so much each class period on a regular day. I have seen better focus on the students using the wobble stools and less distractions caused by the need for constant movement when in the regular chairs.\r\n\r\nWith the snacks, It is almost time for me to get some more. The students have been so appreciative to have a snack. Most of the snacking has occurred in the first half of the day as some students got to school late and missed the free breakfast. Life happens and the students still deserve food to help power them through their day, regardless of the reason for them being late to school. \r\n\r\nI think the biggest hit for my students are the Spot Emotion Plush Toy Set characters. I have them set out at the back of the classroom, under whiteboard that has our daily target and task information. Students will grab one of the emotions and set it on their desk if they don't feel like verbalizing how they are feeling. This provides me a cue and approach them to check in with them instead of them approaching me. This has allowed trust to be built.\r\n\r\nYour donation to my project has been a game changer for not only myself, but the students in my care. Students not in my classroom or on my caseload also know they can come to me when they need a safe space. Thank you for helping to spark the fire in bringing my dream to reality.","fullyFundedDate":1746786029959,"projectUrl":"project/safe-space-at-mrs-careys-place/9320706/","projectTitle":"Safe Space at Mrs. Carey's Place","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Carey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10015100_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x0,y42&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746541140048","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mcms-carey"},{"teacherId":8315262,"projectId":9286963,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to the Midwest City Middle School Band!
