A huge part of our class is Bomber News, our student-led school news show. My scholars get to step into real roles as anchors, reporters, camera operators, directors, editors, and producers. The new microphones, lighting, tripod, and other resources have helped us improve our recording setup and given my students an even better opportunity to take pride and ownership in what they create.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards and organizational supplies have also made it easier for students to brainstorm, plan their segments, and work together as a team. Several students commented on how much easier it is to read their parts, and a few who normally struggle to keep track of materials have warmed to this new capability more than anyone. One student who often felt behind now proudly keeps a folder of freshly printed music and participates more confidently during rehearsals. They couldn't believe that they had equipment to practice with at school and not just at the bowling alley. They were so excited to use them for PE. They can practice so much more since we have bowling pins/balls and softballs at school. In addition, they are learning new sports with the Javelin throw. They think it's neat! They also love that they don't need to go to the water fountain but can use their new water bottles when they are thirsty. They are also learning more about supporting each other as they are having so much fun using the new equipment.\r\n All of these items are helping them to establish and maintain great sportsmanship! Most importantly creating an environment in which they feel more inclusive in their sports and activities and creating a self purpose for them.
