My students started the school year strong because of your donations. We are already using our blue folders and composition notebooks for class regularly to keep students organized. Our headphones have been highly useful on heavier reading assignments, and the Starburst are the perfect reward to show students I see their positive behavior. Once the weather cools down I cannot wait to take students outside to use the chalk for Social Studies vocabulary practice and map skills work. \r\n\r\nEvery year when we go to set up class notebooks and folders, I always see some students who lack these necessary supplies start to panic. Being able to hand them a notebook and/or folder to use for the class calms their nerves and makes them feel seen. It encourages me to get to help my students in these ways. The high level of academic vocabulary in Social Studies is daunting for my students at the beginning of the school year. However, the use of headphones is so helpful for students when reading for assignments. They feel more equipped to complete their work and more confident in their Social Studies skills. \r\n\r\nWithout your kindness, then none of these achievements would have been possible. The extra Starbursts have been the perfect motivator for students to make good choices these last few weeks of school. I have enjoyed the positive reactions from students when they get rewarded with a Starburst. The six cube bookshelf organizer is perfect for holding my classroom supplies! Being able to have separate compartments for different supplies has made student organization so much easier. Everything is not all crammed into one cabinet now. What has been truly helpful are the labels holders for materials stored in the bookshelf. I was able to create labels for supplies with pictures on them, and this has helped students of all ability levels find what they need to be successful. The wider stance of the bookshelf has also helped my student supply cabinet not feel so crowded when multiple students need to borrow supplies.\r\n\r\nI am incredibly grateful for your generosity to me and my students. We are so lucky to have such a fun and supportive classroom this year. We have many students that appreciate the curtains to help reduce glare and distractions from outside. They have also used many of the headphones when their original pairs broke or got lost in the shuffle of the day. The students have been so appreciative that we have so many headphones to share. Finally, the light bulbs for our overhead hanging lights, were a lifesaver. So many of the original bulbs had gone out, that we were forced to use the big overhead lights at the start of the year.
