We've been using the oil pastels and paint sticks during our regular art lessons, and they've given students new ways to explore color, texture, and expression. One of my favorite moments so far was watching students slowly realize how much they could do with these materials—blending colors, layering marks, and helping each other figure out new techniques.\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, students were thrilled. They were drawn right away to the bright colors and couldn't wait to get started. Many of them had never used oil pastels or paint sticks before, and it was exciting to see how proud they felt working with \"real\" art materials. The room was full of questions, excitement, and big ideas.\r\nRight now, students are building on those first experiences by working on a mixed-media project that combines drawing and painting. They're learning how to plan their ideas, experiment, and take creative risks. These supplies have made a big difference in how confident students feel in art class, and they're helping students see themselves as artists. While many people love reading books, teaching students how to read deeply and thoughtfully is a special process—and these new texts are helping us do just that. With these books, students are learning key skills such as making inferences, identifying themes, analyzing characters, and using evidence from the text to support their ideas. The variety of genres and topics also allows us to practice comparing texts, expanding vocabulary, and building background knowledge in engaging, meaningful ways.\r\n Reading in our classroom is an active and joyful experience. You can see students curled up with books, eagerly recommending titles to friends, and proudly sharing insights during discussions. These books have helped create a classroom culture where reading is not just an assignment, but something students truly look forward to.\r\n Several students have been especially excited by the new books, particularly those who previously struggled to find texts that felt right for them. Reluctant readers are now more motivated because they see themselves reflected in the stories or are drawn in by high-interest topics. Other students are diving into more challenging books and feeling proud of their growth as readers.
