Your support helped us get our classroom closet ready and organized for the new school year, and it has truly made a difference. The shelving has allowed my co-teacher and I to keep all of our materials neat and easy to access, which saves us valuable time during our busy days with first graders. The crates have also been a huge help as we use them to sort and store projects and activities by quarter and standard, keeping everything ready for when we need it. I wanted my students to have a classroom environment that would have the ability to help each student foster a love of reading.\r\nMy library area, that you all help me provide for students, is by far their favorite area of the classroom! Students were able to take part in every stage—setting up the incubator, carefully monitoring temperature and humidity, and tracking the 21-day countdown to hatch day. Each morning, students eagerly checked on the eggs and updated our class hatch chart. When the chicks finally began to pip, the classroom transformed into a space of excitement and wonder. Students observed the chicks' first movements and even helped transfer them safely to the brooder.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, my students were thrilled. Many had never seen an incubator up close before. Seeing the equipment and understanding that they'd be responsible for real, living animals made them feel proud and curious. They asked endless questions about how eggs hatch and what chicks need to survive. The sense of ownership they felt was immediate.\r\n\r\nAfter our chicks have hatched, students learned how to care for them—feeding, providing clean water, and understanding their growth needs. We've connected the project to life science lessons about life cycles and animal needs. The next step was documenting their learning in personal chick journals, where students write observations and reflect on what it means to nurture life. Some students were even helping to plan a small presentation to share their knowledge with other classes.","fullyFundedDate":1742078254195,"projectUrl":"project/hatching-futures-providing-resources-fo/9142522/","projectTitle":"Hatching Futures: Providing Resources for Chick Incubation and Care","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9935559"},{"teacherId":9928064,"projectId":9122979,"letterContent":"The excitement that was heard by all my students that they were going to create their very own pinch pot to take home was loud!
