These resources will help me introduce and reinforce concepts that we are learning each day. COVID has had a huge impact on language acquisition for my students. Some are struggling trying to build bridges of learning and the concrete activities give them another aspect of exposure to concepts that they need. The phonics enrichment activities will strengthen the concepts that we are trying to master and will help them bridge their gaps in knowledge. The books give them the opportunity to see words in print in a classic way, and I’m adding the bean bag seating for them to use while they’re exploring their books. The art activities will provide them with a creative outlet to explore and express themselves. COVID has limited our tactile experiences and it’s a vital component that children need. These items are all tactile activities or support tactile activities and my classroom needs more of this component. We need to dedicate extra hands on learning to compensate for the time spent away from the classroom due to COVID quarantines. We have an opportunity to provide our students with additional enrichment activities that will increase their opportunity for success not only in the classroom but outside of it as well. This grant will afford me the chance to add to the tools I have in my classroom and build strong foundations for my students.
