As students practice math skills and make progress, they add stickers to the mosaic. Seeing students proudly squeeze their squishy toys while celebrating math success has been so much fun! \r\n\r\nThe pencil sharpener and pens may seem like a simple classroom supply, but it makes a big difference in our busy classroom. They came to school each day smiling, laughing, asking questions, and excited to learn. My students were creative, curious, and eager to explore the world around them. They especially loved hands-on activities that allowed them to create, experiment, and think outside the box.\r\n\r\nThanks to the generosity of the Art Galore Grant, my students had access to engaging art materials that allowed their creativity to shine! Art became an important part of our daily learning as students painted, created, explored different materials, and expressed their ideas through their own unique creations.\r\n\r\nThese materials did much more than provide opportunities for creativity. They helped my students strengthen their fine-motor skills, build confidence, practice following directions, develop language skills, and learn how to share and collaborate with their classmates. Art also provided opportunities to connect learning across all areas, including literacy, math, science, and social-emotional development.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite things about teaching Pre-K was watching students proudly share what they created and hearing them explain their thinking. They learned that there isn't always just one right answer and that their ideas and creativity matter.\r\n\r\nAlthough I am now serving as an Assistant Principal at Deer Creek Elementary, I continue to see the lasting impact that meaningful, hands-on learning experiences have on young students. I am incredibly grateful for the Art Galore Grant and the generosity that made these experiences possible for my students.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our youngest learners, encouraging their creativity, and helping them discover the joy of creating and learning through art. We are so excited to receive our new recorders and use them to help students develop music literacy while also learning the value of practice and perseverance. Students will be working on keeping a steady tempo, reading music, correctly playing notes, and developing strong practice habits. They will learn songs individually and as a group, with opportunities to perform both as solos and as an ensemble. To celebrate their progress, students will earn colored \"belts\" as they master new skills and songs, giving each student a way to see their own growth and feel proud of what they are accomplishing. When I told my students about the new resources I had ordered, they constantly asked when they would arrive, and they are so excited to finally have the opportunity to learn and play the recorder. As students progress through their colored belts, they will learn new notes, songs, and musical concepts while becoming more confident and independent musicians. Most importantly, I want students to understand that progress takes patience, practice, and perseverance. Every new note they learn and every song they master will be something they can be proud of.
