While working in small group peer-learning, students take the lead in reinforcing daily activities. My group may be a busy bunch, but they love their learning, and I am so grateful for all of them. The Magna Tiles are a hit in our classroom for small group activities. \r\n\r\nIn most early primary classrooms, small group activities strengthen social-emotional learning. Many of my gifted middle school students are passionate readers who quickly work their way through our classroom library. There is nothing more rewarding than watching students rush to grab a book before someone else does or hearing them ask, \"Do you have the next one?\"\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is centered around choice. Students spend time reading independently, discussing books with classmates, recommending titles to one another, and making connections between what they read and the world around them. The diverse collection of graphic novels, historical texts, and contemporary young adult literature has sparked meaningful conversations about identity, empathy, perseverance, justice, and understanding different perspectives. These books challenge students to think critically while also helping them discover the joy of reading for pleasure.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest changes I've seen is that even students who were once reluctant to read are picking up books because they found a title that reflects their own interests and experiences. Meanwhile, my most avid readers finally have fresh books to devour and are constantly asking when the next title will arrive.\r\n\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and investing in their futures. Your generosity has done more than purchase books but it has helped nurture confident readers, thoughtful discussions, and a lifelong love of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1651806335882,"projectUrl":"project/love-of-reading/6217368/","projectTitle":"Love of Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Moran","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1824821_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1555593614601","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/melissa-moran"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_83669","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":340,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":98,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":60.4,"schoolId":83669,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Wade Park Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Wade Park Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/cleveland-metropolitan-school-district/wade-park-elementary-school/83669"}
