I used the funding to create STEM bins, giving my young learners a chance to use them in groups during STEM building challenges, as well as individually if they finish the day's activity early. This has given them the opportunity to explore different materials as well as continue to develop and strengthen their fine motor skills. They are very excited when they walk into class and see the bins out on the tables!\r\n\r\nAn unexpected gift this year is having the K-2 Exceptional Children's class in my Encore rotation, and they absolutely love building! They have enjoyed the magnetic tiles specifically. What began as an idea for a small after-school art club quickly grew when nearly 80 students expressed interest in participating! Our club now includes students across kindergarten through fifth grade, giving children of many ages and abilities an opportunity to experience the joy of creating.\r\n\r\nStudents are able to paint, collage, draw, layer, experiment, and—most importantly—learn that art does not have to be perfect to be valuable.\r\n\r\nThese materials help create a welcoming space where students can take creative risks, build confidence, express themselves, and experience the joy that comes from making something uniquely their own. I have been so excited to introduce this book to my class. We just recently started back to school. I currently teach ELA and Social studies to two classes. This year, I have over 40 students total between the two classrooms. I was so excited to receive enough copies so students could take this book home for homework. Students have begun reading their books and working on the comprehension packets that I included as part of their homework. So many students have commented on how much they have been enjoying the book. They say it is a great book and that it is funny! I am thrilled that they are reading and working on comprehension. In addition, this book is a wonderful book to teach vocabulary.
