Your kindness has made a meaningful difference for both my students and our daily learning environment.\r\n\r\nThis year has been especially challenging with a difficult flu season affecting so many students and staff. Having access to baby wipes, disinfecting wipes, sprays, cleaners, and tissues has had an immediate and lasting impact on our classroom. These supplies help us keep shared spaces cleaner, respond quickly to spills and messes, and reduce the spread of germs throughout the day.\r\n\r\nThe impact of these items goes far beyond simple cleaning. Students are able to stay healthier, miss fewer days of school, and feel more comfortable in a classroom that is safe and well cared for. Tissues are always within reach, desks and tables can be sanitized regularly, and students are learning valuable habits about hygiene and personal responsibility.\r\n\r\nA clean classroom supports stronger learning. When students feel well and can remain in school consistently, they are better able to focus, participate, and grow academically and socially. Your support helps protect instructional time and creates an environment where students can thrive.\r\n\r\nI love my students for their resilience, kindness, and enthusiasm for learning, even during difficult times. Because of your generosity, they know their classroom is a place where they are cared for and supported. Having these much needed supplies, helped take the edge off for a few students that cannot grasp the concept of one tissue at a time or to keep their fingers out of their nose. \r\n\r\nNow that we are in full blown allergy season this is again a huge blessing. For many of us, these were items we had not been consistently supplied with, despite their importance. They have prevented countless abrasions and injuries; in fact, we now notice immediately when we forget to wear them. That alone speaks volumes about how essential they've become in our daily routines.\r\n\r\nAnd the pull-ups have made a huge difference in maintaining cleanliness and dignity. In fact, the \"buzz\" in the room has been wonderful to witness. One of my favorite moments so far was when a student, eager to get his turn at the new station, asked, \"Can I sit here?\" before happily pulling his chair over to the desk to get to work. It's clear that whether they are standing to stay energized or sitting to focus, these desks are already their favorite spot in the room.\r\nThe Impact You've Made:\r\nStudent Choice: Students are learning to identify the environment that helps them work best.\r\nHigh Engagement: Those who haven't had a turn yet are already asking when they can get a chance to use the desks.\r\nA Dynamic Space: The mobility of the podiums and desks allows us to shift our \"learning zones\" in seconds.\r\nYour support does more than just provide furniture; it tells my students that their comfort and learning styles are a priority. We are no longer serving only as a short-term support space; instead, our classroom has become an informal curriculum-based learning environment for students who are with us for up to 89% of their school day. In many cases, when students are unable to remain successfully in their general education classrooms due to behavioral or regulatory needs, we also become their primary instructional setting. At the same time, we are supporting students who are not yet able to complete formal assessments while still being expected to access general education curriculum in addition to our regular EC Resource students. \r\n\r\nThe LEGO DUPLO STEM materials from this project have been essential in helping us meet these challenges. Through structured play with the Number Train, Alphabet Truck, and building sets, I was able to teach early math and literacy concepts in a developmentally appropriate way while also collecting meaningful, play-based assessment data. Observing how students counted, recognized numbers and letters, built structures, and problem-solved during play gave me insight into their understanding that traditional formative assessments simply cannot capture for these learners.\r\n\r\nBecause of this DonorsChoose project, my classroom now has a safe, accessible STEM center that supports both instruction and assessment for students with complex learning needs. These materials allow me to meet students where they are, identify instructional entry points, and continue moving learning forward despite the shifting demands placed on EC Resource classrooms. When students recognize a number as a \"friend,\" they engage longer, take risks, and feel proud of their learning.\r\n\r\nThe foam stacking number blocks are a standout favorite in our classroom. They make the abstract idea of numbers visible and touchable, helping students understand part-whole relationships and number bonds in a way that clicks. Students can physically build a number, break it apart, and put it back together—supporting deep understanding rather than memorization.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, these tools are the bridge between confusion and understanding. Since we introduced the animals to the classroom, the students have been incredibly interested in our science center. We have 2 aquariums set up (one includes the bullfrog tadpoles) and the terrarium which holds the tree frogs we had. All the different pieces have let us have a moist but not sopping wet terrarium. They handle the bugs (many catch the flightless fruit flies that escape) and understand they will be frog prey at some point. The isopods are cute but I don't think the students understand fully yet how they get their food. As each tadpole develops legs and the tail shrinks, it is moved to the terrarium. They watch as the froglet hangs out first in the bromeliad pools (where the leaves meet the stem) and they gradually works its way up the back wall to the hangout place at the tippy top. The kids help with misting the frogs (keeping them moist) but we don't allow touching (can't endanger their lives with our pathogens). It's fascinating. They fully understand the metamorphosis part and are working on the life cycle. The best part is just the liveliness of their interest. The children are endlessly fascinated by the tanks and terrarium. It's made for a lack of dead time - they can always check out the frogs!\r\n\r\nThank you so much for allowing us to have pets in the classroom.
