There is something powerful about students being able to hold the text, flip through pages, and easily revisit important moments. Even though students will not be writing directly in the books, having a physical copy allows them to stay more focused, engaged, and connected to the story in a way that digital reading often does not.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading will be active and interactive. Students will use sticky notes, bookmarks, and graphic organizers to track their thinking while reading. You will see them quickly flipping back to find key scenes, referencing specific pages during discussions, and using the book as a tool to support their ideas. This makes conversations more natural and meaningful because students can physically locate and share evidence with their peers.\r\n\r\nI know this will make a huge difference for my students. Some who struggle with distractions on devices will benefit from the focus a physical book provides, while others will enjoy the experience of reading a real novel and following along more easily. One of the most fun parts will be watching them get invested, reacting to big moments, keeping track of important scenes, and debating which faction they would choose using evidence from their book. This project will help create a classroom where reading feels engaging, focused, and exciting, and I am so grateful for your support in making that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1776777433623,"projectUrl":"project/one-book-endless-thinking-divergent-in/10169252/","projectTitle":"One Book, Endless Thinking: Divergent in Action","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Whaling","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7861629_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y193&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1774446568170","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7861629"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_3563","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":977,"numTeachers":52,"percentFrplEligible":40,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":67,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"18.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":54.2,"schoolId":3563,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Piedmont Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Piedmont Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/union-county-public-schools/piedmont-middle-school/3563"}
