The instant we unrolled the vibrant rug, gasps of awe echoed across the room. Students immediately crowded around, as they rushed to find a continent, tracing colorful landmasses and blue oceans. For my kids, these were not just classroom furnishings; they were an instant, tangible passport to a world they had only dreamed about exploring.\r\n\r\nThese generous resources have completely transformed our daily learning environment and made our Social Studies standards come alive. Sitting comfortably in our cozy reading chair to facilitate inquiry-based discussions, I now watch my students actively engage with geographic reasoning and human-environment relationships. During a recent lesson on spatial awareness, students knelt together over the Atlantic Ocean to trace historical trade routes and analyze how geography influences daily life across different regions. The rug has turned abstract map skills into a interactive, hands-on experience that builds spatial intuition every single day.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our students are preparing to launch a \"Global Passport\" research project using the rug as our central anchor. Because so much of our classwork is completed on computers, these games give students an opportunity to step away from their screens, relax for a few minutes, and interact with their classmates. It has been great to see students finish a challenging assignment or project and then gather around a game together for a much needed break.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using the games for brain breaks, especially during longer projects when students are spending extended periods of time working on computers. These short breaks give students a chance to recharge before returning to their work. Thank you for helping me provide my students with something as simple as time away from a screen to have fun and connect with one another. In our Adobe Academy program at Robbinsville High School, student spend a lot of time working on computers while learning video editing, graphic design, and other creative skills. The games have given them a chance to step away from screens, reset their minds, and connect with each other in a meaningful way. One of my favorite moment so far has been watching students who normally stay quiet, laugh and work as a team with classmates. It will help build stronger relationships in my classroom moving forward.\r\n\r\nWhen the games arrived, the students were so excited. Many wanted to play them right away. Several of my students spoke about not having access to many games at home, so this felt special to them. In our rural community, resources like this are not always easy to provide, which made your generosity even more meaningful. The students truly felt supported and cared about.\r\n\r\nI look forward to using these resources many years in the future to offer brain breaks to students after difficult units or testing, as well as using them for collaborative working and building relationships with their peers.
