With your support my teaching team and I were able to provide a healthy snack to every first grader in our school for nearly five months.\r\n\r\nWhy does this matter? We know that when kids are well fed, they are better learners and more focused in the classroom. We have seen this proven again and again with this cohort of students with their significant academic gains. On one academic measurement, our first graders collectively made 148% gain (one and one half a year's growth) in reading and 128% gain (one and one third a year's growth) in math. \r\n\r\nI am grateful to work in a community that supports students, schools, and teachers.","fullyFundedDate":1770828362367,"projectUrl":"project/help-me-give-my-first-graders-nutritiona/10062084/","projectTitle":"Help Me Give My First Graders Nutritional Snacks Every Day!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Serio","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8498601_orig.jpg?crop=811,811,x0,y135&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1656443155356","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8498601"},{"teacherId":3546403,"projectId":10022052,"letterContent":"How can someone describe the feeling of gratitude when talking about feeding children? Our kids have so many needs, starting with filling their bellies. Seeing the looks on the kids' faces when they're excited about each day's snack is so heartwarming. Thank you all so much for making that happen for us! Not only are you supporting the children's nutritional needs, but you're also alleviating a huge expense from our own personal budgets for this school year. These snacks aren't optional, kids truly cannot make it through the day without them. They are critical for the emotional regulation and learning of every child so we have been feeding all 50 kids every day all year long. Clearly that adds up!
