CSR is a school with students of many backgrounds, religions and cultures. Our sixth grade family consists of ENL, ASD and students with special needs. Our first unit in ELA covers Ancient Greek religion and culture. The required reading for this unit is very challenging for the majority of our students. Diverse texts of various reading levels help students approach the subject of Greek mythology at their level. It is our hope that by expanding our classroom library of texts on this topic, such as Dragon Healer, Centaur School, and Steeds of the Gods, students will learn at their own pace and by their own choices, so that they have a greater stake in their education.
