Because of your generosity, my first graders now have engaging, hands-on math materials that have brought so much excitement and joy into our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe moment my students saw the new materials, their faces lit up. They were immediately curious, excited, and ready to explore! Hearing them ask, \"Are we using these for math today?\" reminded me just how powerful it can be when learning feels like something children want to do.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the materials during whole-group lessons, small groups, math centers, and partner activities. My students are building numbers, practicing addition and subtraction, solving problems, playing math games, and most importantly, talking about their mathematical thinking. I have loved watching students help one another, explain their strategies, and proudly celebrate when they finally solve a problem that was challenging for them.\r\n\r\nFor first graders, these moments are huge. Math is not just about getting the correct answer. It is about developing confidence, learning that it is okay to make mistakes, and discovering that they are capable of doing hard things. These resources give my students opportunities to learn through movement, play, collaboration, and hands-on exploration while still building important foundational skills.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue using these materials as we move into more challenging addition, subtraction, and problem-solving work. I will also use them during small-group instruction to provide students with the additional practice, support, or challenge they need.\r\n\r\nThank you for choosing to invest in my students. Many of the children in my classroom may never know your names, but they will experience the impact of your kindness every time they pick up one of these materials and discover something new. We are using these supplies during reading, writing, and math lessons to complete classwork, small-group activities, and independent practice. One meaningful moment was watching students confidently begin a writing activity with their own materials—ready to focus on their ideas rather than worrying about not having what they need.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new supplies, they were beyond excited. Many carefully organized their materials and proudly used them right away, which created a strong sense of ownership and responsibility. Having fresh, high-quality supplies made students feel prepared, valued, and motivated to do their best work. It also helped establish positive routines and expectations for learning at the start of the year.\r\n\r\nThanks to these supplies, we are now able to dive deeper into current lessons and projects. Students are continuing to strengthen their reading and writing skills, solve math problems with confidence, and take part in hands-on activities that support creativity and collaboration. This has helped students work more independently, build confidence, and stay engaged in their learning.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is having their own set of headphones that make learning feel special and important. They love being able to hear clearly and fully immerse themselves in their work. Because of this, technology time has become calmer, more focused, and something students truly look forward to each day.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially benefited from this project, including English language learners, emerging readers, and students who need extra support with attention and focus. When our new mobile whiteboard arrived, my students were so excited that they formed a little circle around it, whispering things like, \"Can we write on it?\" and \"Wow—it moves!\" Their smiles said everything.\r\n\r\nWe use the mobile whiteboard every day, and it has already transformed our learning. During math, I roll the board right to small groups as we work on place value. Students eagerly come up to draw tens and ones, build numbers with quick sketches, and explain their thinking. Being able to model their ideas right in front of them has helped so many students gain confidence in understanding how numbers are built.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened last week when a student proudly drew ten-sticks and ones on the board and said, \"Look! I made 42!\" The entire group cheered—and then wanted their turn. Moments like this show how empowering this tool has become.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboard has also made a huge difference in our realistic fiction writing unit. As we write our class narrative together, students come up to the board to help brainstorm character problems, settings, and solutions. They love sketching their ideas before writing, and the mobility of the board means we can move it from the carpet to writing tables with ease. Having the board close by has made it easier for students to visualize their stories and share their voices.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include using the whiteboard during \"author share time,\" where students will display their story plans and walk the class through the beginning, middle, and end of their narratives. In math, students will soon use the board to compare two-digit numbers using place value models and symbols.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given my first graders a tool that moves with their learning, supports hands-on exploration, and boosts their excitement every single day.
