One specific moment that stood out was during our unit on place value. I set up a hands-on center using place value blocks and number puzzles from the new materials, and students were able to build numbers, break them apart, and explain their thinking to their peers. It was incredible to watch them take ownership of their learning!\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their eyes lit up! Many of them immediately gravitated toward the brightly colored manipulatives and interactive games. They were genuinely excited to try them out, and several students even asked if we could use them during free time. Their enthusiasm confirmed just how much they value hands-on, engaging learning experiences.\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\nCurrently, we're focusing on building fluency with addition and subtraction within 100. With the new materials, we're planning a set of math centers that focus on problem-solving strategies, including number bonds, fact families, and regrouping. These centers will allow students to collaborate, apply what they've learned, and build confidence in their math skills. The ultimate goal is to have students rotate through these centers independently while I provide targeted support to small groups.","fullyFundedDate":1738171393687,"projectUrl":"project/from-numbers-to-mastery-math-centers-th/9006252/","projectTitle":"From Numbers to Mastery: Math Centers That Inspire","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kebbeh","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9462206_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723055183919","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9462206"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_321","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":487,"numTeachers":50,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":43,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":54,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"9.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.3,"schoolId":321,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 55 Benjamin Franklin School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 55 Benjamin Franklin School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-55-benjamin-franklin-school/321"}
