Due to your kindness our class has the items we need to be successful. The dry erase markers help us to do our phonics activities so we can sound out and write words on whiteboards. \r\nWe have used the play-doh to make the letters, numbers, and shapes we have been learning about. \r\nThe printer and laminating machine have enabled us to print out items to create engaging and educational learning center activities.\r\nOur weighted dinosaur stuffed toy is our best friend in our library and quite corner. When we need a break we know we can go to the quiet corner and read a book with our soft weighted pal. He truly brings us comfort and helps us calm down. \r\nAll of your help in funding this project is truly appreciated from the bottom of my heart. The cozy corner holds 2 students at a time. Partnerships are able to view themselves in the mirror and imitate a variety of emotions with each other. Students are able to use the sensory fidget tubes to calm themselves, identify the colors they see, and observe the motion of the liquid inside of the tubes. \r\nOne day, one of my students came to me upset. She was able to state to me, \"I am angry. He made an angry face at me\". By squeezing the plush toys, she was able to calm down and communicate to me how she knew he made an angry face at her. She chose the weighted plush toy with the angry face to help her communicate further. I was able to use the plush toys to help her peer understand why she was upset. At the end of the conversation, they were able to become friends again. Partnerships also enjoy choosing random plush toys and make faces at each other to mimic the faces on the toys. The donated cozy corner items also help my Spanish speaking students to identify their feelings to me and their peers while still in the process of learning the English language.
