Although I teach in a class of 27 students, I work with a small group of students at various times throughout the school day. When we work in our group we usually move to the hallway where it is more quiet. Since most of our lessons are presented on the smartboard, we lose this tool when we relocate to the hallway. To be effective I am constantly duplicating resources and tools the best I can. \r\nThis movable tablet enables us to have a seamless transition to learning in the hallway. We now have access to the exact same materials that the children in the classroom have! This is exciting, especially from my perspective. The children who move into the hallway need extra help. They need a slower pace. They need a more quiet environment. They need more guided instruction. Moving into the hallway is its own disruption but this tablet makes it less of a disruption. No student and no resource gets left behind. It is interactive and the children are so excited to be able to write on it! \r\nIt also helps me see, in real time, where students are making some mistakes and the specific extra help they need.\r\nThe children are excited to go into the hallway now! They finally have something different than the students remaining in the classroom have. I am able to add to their background knowledge and enhance their learning experience by pulling up images and videos to explain ideas and concepts with which they are unfamiliar.\r\nI feel more effective as a teacher because I have this incredible tool to use with my students.
