When the materials arrived, the students were thrilled. They eagerly gathered around the boxes, excited to build and discover what they could create together.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the LEGOs to strengthen both literacy and science skills while building English language proficiency. Students work in small groups to follow directions, describe their designs, ask and answer questions, and explain their thinking using new vocabulary. During one recent STEM challenge, students designed structures that could withstand different weather conditions. They practiced words like \"strong,\" \"stable,\" \"balance,\" and \"support\" while collaborating in English to solve problems. It was inspiring to see students who are still developing confidence in English actively participating, encouraging one another, and proudly presenting their finished projects.\r\n\r\nThese resources will continue to support our after-school program by providing meaningful opportunities to develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through inquiry-based science lessons and collaborative building challenges. They provide structured, accessible opportunities for students to practice vocabulary, grammar, and speaking skills in a way that feels manageable and supportive. Students who once hesitated to participate are now reading aloud, answering questions, and working with peers with a newfound sense of confidence.\r\n\r\nThe organizational supplies—folders, labels, and materials that support ENL compliance—have made a tremendous difference behind the scenes as well.
