When the materials arrived, the students were thrilled. They eagerly gathered around the boxes, excited to build and discover what they could create together.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the LEGOs to strengthen both literacy and science skills while building English language proficiency. Students work in small groups to follow directions, describe their designs, ask and answer questions, and explain their thinking using new vocabulary. During one recent STEM challenge, students designed structures that could withstand different weather conditions. They practiced words like \"strong,\" \"stable,\" \"balance,\" and \"support\" while collaborating in English to solve problems. It was inspiring to see students who are still developing confidence in English actively participating, encouraging one another, and proudly presenting their finished projects.\r\n\r\nThese resources will continue to support our after-school program by providing meaningful opportunities to develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through inquiry-based science lessons and collaborative building challenges. By connecting language learning with hands-on exploration, students are gaining confidence in using English while developing critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our multilingual learners. Your generosity has created a classroom where students feel excited to learn, empowered to communicate, and inspired to explore new ideas. Your support is making a lasting impact on their academic growth and confidence every day.","fullyFundedDate":1778449391139,"projectUrl":"project/legos-for-learning/10096735/","projectTitle":"Legos for Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sixberry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10264603_orig.jpg?crop=2699,2699,x191,y775&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758145841853","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10264603"},{"teacherId":10264603,"projectId":9718741,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, my 3rd–5th grade ENL students now have the tools they need to strengthen their English language skills and participate more confidently in class. As soon as the new books and language task cards arrived, my students were excited to explore them. Many immediately chose books that matched their reading levels and interests, and it has been wonderful to see them engaging more actively during independent reading and small-group instruction.\r\n\r\nThe language task cards have already had a noticeable impact on our daily ENL routines. They provide structured, accessible opportunities for students to practice vocabulary, grammar, and speaking skills in a way that feels manageable and supportive. Students who once hesitated to participate are now reading aloud, answering questions, and working with peers with a newfound sense of confidence.\r\n\r\nThe organizational supplies—folders, labels, and materials that support ENL compliance—have made a tremendous difference behind the scenes as well. These tools help me stay organized, maintain required documentation, and create a clear, structured environment that benefits both instruction and student progress. With everything in place, I'm able to spend more time planning meaningful lessons and providing individualized support.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has brought clarity, confidence, and encouragement to our ENL students.
