The snacks you funded arrived at the perfect time—right as many of my sixth graders were beginning to show signs of afternoon fatigue and hunger. Having nutritious options available has truly changed their ability to focus, learn, and feel cared for throughout the school day.\r\nEach day, students now come to our \"Snack Station\" to choose something that helps them refuel before tackling reading, writing, or math. For some students, these snacks are the first thing they eat since breakfast. One of my quieter students, who often struggled to stay alert during independent reading, now grabs a granola bar and settles into his book with energy and confidence. He's reading longer, participating more, and even raising his hand to share his thoughts during discussions—something he rarely did before.\r\nAnother moment that stood out came during a small-group writing lesson. A few of my students who typically lose focus quickly were able to stay engaged for the entire session simply because they weren't distracted by hunger. They proudly finished their paragraphs, reread them, and asked if they could share aloud. I could see how being physically nourished helped them push through academic challenges with more resilience and independence.\r\nThese snacks also created a sense of community. Students have begun reminding each other—kindly—that the snack station is there if someone looks tired or frustrated. I overheard one student say, \"Go get something so you can think better.\" Moments like these show me that this project supported not just academic needs, but emotional ones as well.\r\nYour gift may seem simple, but its effect is profound. You've helped students feel seen, supported, and ready to learn. Thank you for believing in them and for investing in their daily well-being. Your kindness has brought comfort, focus, and joy into our classroom, and we are deeply grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1758898921886,"projectUrl":"project/healthy-snacks-for-students/9592556/","projectTitle":"“Healthy Snacks for Students”","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Qeraj","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9286099_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1705677286657","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9286099"},{"teacherId":9286099,"projectId":9765081,"letterContent":"I want to sincerely thank you for your generous support of our classroom project. Your donation has had a meaningful impact on our students, and I am excited to share the ways it has enriched their learning experiences.\r\n\r\nThanks to your contribution, we were able to provide engaging materials that truly brought learning to life. For example, our students loved reading All the Bright Places, our first independent reading book. Between each meeting, students averaged 80–100 pages and came prepared to discuss their opinions on the characters, predict what would happen next, and explore deeper themes such as mental health—topics that are especially important to teenagers. The book sparked thoughtful conversations and helped students connect reading to their own lives.\r\n\r\nI also want to share a personal moment that highlighted the impact of your support. When we moved to the art room to collaborate with the art teacher, I witnessed students fully immerse themselves in creating artwork with meaningful messages. Some students were so inspired that they stayed during lunch to finish intricate designs. They also wrote Artist Statements explaining their inspiration and how their work connected to themes from class, such as immigration, racism, and current social issues. One of our administrators even commented on how impressed she was, saying she hopes to take my class next year because of the students' dedication and creativity.\r\n\r\nThis experience has had a lasting effect on our students. It helped them grow not only academically, but also as young individuals learning to express themselves, work collaboratively, and engage thoughtfully with the world around them. Your support made this possible, and we are truly grateful for your generosity in helping our students explore, create, and thrive.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making a real difference in our classroom and in the lives of our students. Nearpod allows the students to respond to open ended questions, play matching games, competitive games, and take mini quizzes, which give me immediate feed back.\r\n\r\nThe students especially love the Time to Climb. The game allows the students to answer questions and see their avatar climb to the top of a mountain based on the accuracy of their response. Even my most unmotivated student gets excited when we play the game and he usually ends up winning. Another wonderful aspect of Nearpod is that I get a full review at the end giving me a break down of the students participation and responses. This project provided body soap, deodorant wipes, and toothbrushes to our students judgment-free. \r\n\r\nOur plan was to create a positive culture around these hygiene products. We didn't want any students feeling singled out or embarrassed. We kept the products accessible in our classroom for students to take and encouraged them to do so. Our students were so excited! The purpose of this project is to support students with disabilities through movement. Incorporating movement into instruction is essential to maintaining focus and regulating emotions. In order to make this possible, educators have gotten quite creative! When I first heard about bouncy bands for desks, I was curious to see the impact they could make in the learning environment. I visited a classroom with bouncy bands, and the benefits were immediately clear. Students use the bands to bounce their feet while sitting at their desks. It may not seem like a huge deal... and that's exactly why it is so effective. These bouncy bands are silent! Many of the jittering and stimming behaviors that students with disabilities use to burn off extra energy or process overwhelming sensations can disturb their own learning. This can look like tapping a pencil on the desk or even shouting across the room. Bouncy bands enable students to release energy in a positive and non-disruptive way.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has provided my classroom with bouncy bands for every desk. This means that all of my students have access to this incredible support- thanks to YOU! This truly is the gift that keeps on giving.
