Your investment in our classroom made a massive difference in how my students mastered one of the trickiest concepts in chemistry.\r\n\r\nElectron configuration can be incredibly abstract and intimidating for high school students. Trying to visualize invisible sublevels, orbitals, and electron spins on a flat piece of paper often leads to a lot of confusion. These hands-on mats changed the entire game.\r\n\r\nWith these mats, my students were able to physically manipulate and place \"electrons\" into their proper energy levels. It turned a frustrating lesson into an interactive, visual puzzle where they can actually see Hund's Rule and the Pauli Exclusion Principle play out in real time.\r\n\r\nYour kindness provided my students with the high-quality, tactile tools they need to build true scientific confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1762266270203,"projectUrl":"project/bonding-with-science-help-students-expl/9736178/","projectTitle":"Bonding with Science: Help Students Explore Chemical Bonds!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Marriott","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9874075_orig.jpg?crop=1435,1435,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757188409200","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9874075"},{"teacherId":4824550,"projectId":10025717,"letterContent":"Wow! Last year we improvised with Sterlite bins, but they were too shallow to effectively model stream erosion across a land surface. The sand kept collapsing on itself and the water just destroyed the entire landscape in one fell swoop. This stream table is equipped with a pump that cycles water over the land surface and back around. My students were clearly able to see the channels cut by the water released through several tubes. As the slope decreased, the channels formed wide meanders. Student planted houses on either side of each meander and made predictions on which houses would fall first. They were able to see that the houses placed along the outside curves fell into the water first because its higher velocity resulted in a faster rate of erosion, thus destabilizing the houses. This stream table is an excellent resource for hands-on learning.
