Too often the media images we see of Latino and African-American young men are very negative. The goal for my Young Men's Empowerment Group is to challenge and equip these young men to assume greater responsibility for their lives in and out of school. Together we will explore topics such as, financial literacy, goal setting, academic skills building, mental health, exercise and nutrition, decision making, conflict resolution, mentoring, volunteerism and career exploration. We will use the goal journals to explore and write about feelings and issues that are concerns them while planning for life. The life skill builder and calm cards will help teach my students how to cope with life changes. The snacks will help give them something to eat instead of being hungry during the lessons. Success are my students #1 goal and I am happy that I am their to help guide them there.
