I was able to put out new visual book lists using the desktop display system that your donations purchased. The students have also loved tracking the year's book circulation numbers on our new number flip chart. They like to see the growing number every week.\r\n\r\nOur makerspace has been very busy with creative students this year. The supply cart purchased through your donations has made it so easy to leave coloring and craft supplies out for students. We started a Maker Monday program this year, and the first 2 weeks were a hit. Dozens of students came in to make bracelets with all of the new beads you provided. Later this year, we will use the button maker, and I know they will love it!\r\n\r\nStudents also come down daily to play with the new board games this grant purchased, and to complete a puzzle on our new puzzle table. With books in hand, they immersed themselves in close reading, theme exploration, and character analysis in ways that felt natural, joyful, and deeply engaging. We even created a \"Stories Have Power: Our Monster Board\" to highlight their predictions and questions.\r\n\r\nThe students were fully absorbed in the story — citing favorite lines, whispering theories, and reacting to every twist. The cliffhangers were especially powerful; each time a chapter ended, the whole class groaned in unison. If even a couple of minutes remained in the period, they begged to begin the next chapter. Their enthusiasm was truly magical.\r\n\r\nSome of the biggest surprises came from my quieter or more hesitant readers. One student who often struggled to stay focused started asking if we could \"please read a little more.\" Another, who rarely spoke up, began sharing thoughtful insights about the monster and the symbolism woven throughout the story. These books gave them confidence, curiosity, and a shared experience they were proud to claim.\r\n\r\nYour generosity did far more than provide books — it helped build a vibrant reading community filled with excitement, connection, and genuine joy. The brightly colored hats, texting gloves and warm socks were an absolute hit. My students went WILD for their new surprises thanks to your love, kindness and generosity. \r\nWalking into the classroom to see great big boxes of surprises felt amazing to both students and myself. I knew these great kiddos were in for a fun surprise!\r\nAs you can see in the pictures, I strung the gloves on a clothing line so that each child could pick the color that they wanted. The hats were placed on our Continents rug which were laid out neatly for the taking. ALL students were so appreciative and excited.\r\nThe socks, chapsticks and candy will be given out for Valentines Day to each child to show them how much they are loved. Each pair of sock will be wrapped with a ribbon as a base of a cupcake with a lollipop and chapstick sticking out of the middle. As my students continue on their journey to boost their literacy skills, understanding the vocabulary words they are reading will have a huge impact in their reading comprehension.\r\n\r\nEvery week they review a scientific article. Part of the process is to annotate any word they don't understand. They then use the dictionaries to define those words. \r\n\r\nUsing the dictionaries instead of a computer builds multiple skills at once. The dictionaries reinforce the skill of learning how to use the resources you have access to, as well as reinforcing alphabetically order and exposure to all the forms a word might take. These donations truly make school fun, exciting and hilarious!\r\n\r\nUnfortunately, I have noticed an increase this year where students are truly struggling with food insecurity. Handing students a small treat with a smile sure shows that I truly care about them!\r\n\r\nIt seems like I am seeing more and more children with stuffy noses, coughing and just not feeling well but still coming to school regularly. Why are these children coming to school sick? Once again, the food provided by our cafeteria and teachers. These incredible students are hungry!
