COVID 19 has created a new and unique approach to end of school year celebrations. As 8th graders, my students would typically have an end of year moving up ceremony, an 8th grade dance, and an 8th grade field trip. The 8th grade graduating class of 2021 will not be getting to experience the joys associated with any of these activities. Instead, they will be celebrated with a virtual ceremony of some sort. For this reason, my team and I are looking to put together sweet summer sendoff bags. These bags will either be picked up if a drive thru moving up event is allowed, or they will be delivered by teachers directly to the students homes. The bags will include masks, earbuds, hand sanitizer, snacks, sticker and custom t-shirts. These will be items to help students celebrate the end of the year, as well as transition to high school in the fall. The majority of the students at my school are low income. They have shown amazing reliance in the face of an adverse school, when they are often faced with adversity outside of school as well. They continue to show up and do their best despite whatever challenges they are facing. Please consider helping me in creating a special and unique sweet summer sendoff!
