The students had a fantastic learning experience germinating tomatoes and chile in the hydroponic systems. We were able to transplant the seedlings to our garden at the end of the year. The compost bins have allowed us to begin creating our own healthy soil and the students love bringing in vegetable scraps to add to the bins. The kneepads were a game-changer in allowing the students to comfortably access the garden beds, pull weeds and spread mulch! The birds have been ravaging the suet and we have been able to observe many different species of birds enjoying the feed! Lastly, thank you so much for the benches! What a wonderful space they have helped us create for our students to read in the garden. A million thanks for the gifts!","fullyFundedDate":1734098398982,"projectUrl":"project/ecras-garden-beautification-project/9000144/","projectTitle":"ECRA's Garden Beautification Project!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Velasquez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9870469"},{"teacherId":4960679,"projectId":9020591,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for your generous donations which helped fund this project and get tournament quality chess sets into the homes of all of my students. The students have enjoyed learning chess bit by bit in the classroom and playing with family members at home. The rules of chess books have been valuable in teaching the nuances of the game, and the kids are getting better and better with each week. Several of the parents have reached out to me and told me what a blessing it has been to see their children involved in a game requiring thought and strategy, playing with their parents, grandparents and siblings. One parent commented how much of a blessing it was to see their child off of their phone screens for a change. \r\n\r\nWhen our package first arrived in January, it was like Christmas all over again, and screams of joy and celebration filled the room. Of course we had to stop what we were doing and set up our boards. The students left that day proudly carrying their chess sets with them to take them home and teach their families how to play. \r\n\r\nWe will continue to learn the game and have a culminating tournament in May to crown the class champions. The students continue to try and beat me - I have promised them lunch from their restaurant of choice when they do, and some of them are starting to come close!","fullyFundedDate":1735355925057,"projectUrl":"project/checkmate-teaching-my-students-the-wond/9020591/","projectTitle":"Checkmate!
