Secret Stories allowed for me to explain to my students the \"secret\" parts of words that would otherwise be tricky. Using these story based explanations helps makes understanding phonics fun and intuitive. When introducing the stories we closed the doors and made sure we were keeping the \"secrets\" . Students were so excited and couldn't wait to hear the stories. Incorporating gentures also made the secrets even more engaging and help students easily embed the strategies into thier reading. The students ask everyday what new secrets I am going to share.
