High schoolers are filled with talent. Talent in the classroom, talent on the court or field, and talent in the classroom. The resources that were purchased with your project were used to that students could connect their talents to their learning. Students are often encouraged and assigned to make sense of the math they are learning by connecting it to something that they already know about. Students are taught to use drawings, symbols, words, and other types of representations to demonstrate their thinking. More often than not, students go above and beyond when asked to complete a math task that involves some sort of art. My students are appreciative of the high-quality art materials that have been donated. I see this in the way they take care in their use and the way they always return the materials to their proper place. \r\nMyself and my students are very grateful for your support of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, ART, & Math)","fullyFundedDate":1764700127001,"projectUrl":"project/colorful-math/9925513/","projectTitle":"Colorful Math","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chavez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5490488_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1530071545436","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/april-chavez"},{"teacherId":5490488,"projectId":8980511,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation so that my Algebra and Geometry classes have access to \"old-fashioned\" calculators. \r\nWhen students use their cell phones for calculations, they get distracted and off task because a phone is not just a calculator, it is a TV, movie screen, video game device, social media device, and a communication device for friends. Phones are inefficient because of all of the distractions they allow. These somewhat simple scientific calculators are the perfect medium for the type of math done in Algebra and Geometry. Our school does provide graphing calculators, but students and myself included, find that these are more difficult to operate and manipulate. The scientific calculators are the solution that is \"just right.\" Thank you so much for making our classroom more efficient, math literate, and successful.","fullyFundedDate":1733281690426,"projectUrl":"project/calculating-success/8980511/","projectTitle":"Calculating Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chavez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5490488_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1530071545436","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/april-chavez"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82439","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1160,"numTeachers":79,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":8,"percentLatinx":73,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":64.5,"schoolId":82439,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Highland High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Highland High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/albuquerque-public-schools/highland-high-school/82439"}
