This project is rooted in the belief that every student deserves an environment where they feel safe, supported, and capable of learning in ways that meet their unique needs.\r\n\r\nMany exceptional learners—particularly students with autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, or learning disabilities—experience challenges in traditional classroom settings due to sensory overload or unmet sensory needs. These challenges can affect attention, emotional regulation, behavior, and academic engagement. Sensory supports help bridge this gap by creating inclusive learning spaces that honor how students process the world around them.\r\nThrough this project, sensory supports such as , fidgets, visual schedules, noise-reduction tools, musical instruments, and tactile materials are intentionally integrated into the classroom. These supports empower students to self-regulate, remain focused, and actively participate in learning. When students are given tools that help them manage their sensory needs, they gain confidence, independence, and a stronger sense of belonging.\r\nThe impact of this project extends beyond individual students. Sensory supports foster culture of empathy, understanding, and acceptance. All students benefit from a learning environment that values differences and promotes emotional well-being. \r\n\r\nUltimately, Empowering Every Ability is about equity, not advantage. It ensures that exceptional learners are not expected to adapt to environments that were not designed for them, but instead are supported in ways that allow them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.\r\n\r\nThank you for your support and commitment to inclusive education. Together, we can create classrooms where every ability is valued and every learner has the opportunity to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1768519999701,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-every-ability-sensory-suppor/9950185/","projectTitle":"Empowering Every Ability: Sensory Supports for Exceptional Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barnes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10378085"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_105604","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":36,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":71,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":18,"percentIndigenous":5,"percentLatinx":65,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":64.1,"schoolId":105604,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Stephen Moody Complex on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Stephen Moody Complex","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/albuquerque-public-schools/aztec-complex/105604"}
