My students come to school in various states of array. Some depend greatly on the food supplied by the school while others have a little more. All in all most of my students depend on what they receive while away from home. The economy has gotten tougher and my students have suffered the most.\r\nEach day we have a small break and a snack to reenergize, feed their tummies, and fuel their minds. When my students saw all the snacks and the fact that they had a choice, they were so very excited! It was like it was a party! They were so very thankful and happy to know that they have a supply of snacks waiting for them every day. I feel it helps that they can see the boxes stored all around our classroom and make them feel secure in knowing the food is there for them.\r\nCurrently my 3rd graders are learning about how to research and write a report. Every February we have a Black History Living Museum. The students research a famous black American and then create a presentation board. The students then dress like the person they researched and share their knowledge acting in the role of the person they researched.
