Although all of my students receive free breakfast and lunch, they often do not eat what the school provides due to sensory issues. These items we received are items that the school provides at times that my students do enjoy so I wanted to make sure I had them on hand. The weighted blankets help my students at naptime who need a little extra sensory input to help them fall asleep. Thank you again for all of your support. In several classes I was able to provide tissues and cleaning supplies. To a few students that did not have blankets we were able to provide them with the bedrolls from this project. In a number of instances students that had accidents during the day were able to go home with clean new pants thanks to this project. \r\n The students feel loved and cared for when their basic needs are met. This allows them to recognize school as a safe and welcoming place that treats everyone equally. As we continue to combat chronic absenteeism the attitude of students towards school becomes a large part of the issue. The velcro dots I received in this project we attached to laminated books to make the pieces moveable and interactive for the students. They have really enjoyed using these materials. I remember how cool they were and how much I wanted to make each pedal work and bang on each drum. These are the experiences you are providing to students. \r\n I have learned so much from these drum sets. They do not arrived assembled; putting them together was a learning experience. They are not full-sized, lending themselves to be excellent for students, but impractical for adults to use.
