We frequently make books and interactive file folder games based on curriculum, students interests and individual goals. The velcro dots included in this funded project help us to be able to continue to make these items interactive for students. Double sided tape allows us to easily display student work and label their cubbies and cots. Another thing that was in this project that greatly helps my students are different texture chewelries that provide them with safe options to combat their PICA yet still meet their sensory needs.\r\n Although winter is over, there are still many students who are being sent home with cold and flu symptoms. The Chlorex wipes help us keep the rooms clean and disinfected to help minimize germs. We have many students who also experience seasonal allergies and the tissues have been a much needed supply. These items helped take our dramatic player area up a level. We were able to set part of our dramatic play area up to look like a pizzeria. My students enjoyed making their own pizzas with the Melissa & Doug Wooden Pizza Party Play Set. This pizza set came with 36 self-stick toppings so they could choose which toppings they wanted for the pizza. When you eat pizza though you sometimes become thirsty. They were able to use the Melissa & Doug Thirst Quencher Wooden Drink Dispenser with juice Inserts and ice cubes to pour their \"customers\" drinks. Their youngest customer is the Baby Alive Fruity Sips Doll who sips from a sippy cup.\r\n Other items that we received included the Fisher-Price Baby & Toddler Toy Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Piggy Bank and the Gifts2U Girls Beauty Salon Set. The students enjoy using the plastic coins with the piggy bank as they work on colors and numbers. The 23 piece kids beauty salon pretend hair styling set came with a blow dryer, barber costume apron, scissors and stylist accessories. My class enjoys using these items to pretend they are in a salon. We really appreciate your support in helping us obtain these materials. I read this book to my students during our circle time and then students took turns trying each of the instruments out. In several classes I was able to provide tissues and cleaning supplies. To a few students that did not have blankets we were able to provide them with the bedrolls from this project. In a number of instances students that had accidents during the day were able to go home with clean new pants thanks to this project. \r\n The students feel loved and cared for when their basic needs are met. This allows them to recognize school as a safe and welcoming place that treats everyone equally. As we continue to combat chronic absenteeism the attitude of students towards school becomes a large part of the issue.
