Their positive reactions showed just how much these tools were needed in our classroom environment.\r\n\r\nAs students continue to use the sensory seating options, they are able to receive important sensory input while staying engaged in their academic tasks. I have observed noticeable improvements in both focus and participation, as students are better able to regulate their bodies while learning. They are using the seats and footbands appropriately and independently, which has helped create a more productive and inclusive classroom. One recent moment that really stood out was during a small-group reading activity—students naturally gravitated to different seating options that suited their learning style, and we noticed a marked increase in discussion and participation. Students who are usually more reserved were actively sharing ideas, and it felt like the classroom was filled with energy and creativity.\r\nThe students were absolutely thrilled! It was a special surprise day, providing them these seating options. There was a lot of excitement and curiosity as they explored all the different seating options. Many immediately claimed their favorite spots, and they couldn't wait to try them out during lessons. They also provide opportunities for students to recognize and understand different emotions, as well as develop empathy by identifying what others may be feeling.\r\n\r\nOur youngest learners especially love these stories, and our intensive needs students are particularly engaged when the books are sung. I track my checked out books using BookSource, and every single book bought with this project has been checked out a minimum of 3 times since purchase. It is incredible the rate in which they are reading these high interest books.\r\n\r\nNot only have the students been reading these books, they've been recommending them to others! It is so heartening to hear students talking about the books with each other. Due to this, the books are crossing gender norms as well. Girls are recommending the Baby-Sitter's Club graphic novels to their male classmates and the boys are actually choosing to read them to see what the hype is all about! \r\n\r\nAll in all, I cannot thank you enough for the support. My students have already shown more engagement and faster learning while being able to use these multisensory materials. When they first saw the new materials, they were extremely excited. They had been anticipating their arrival, so when the day came that they were here and ready to use, they were bursting with excitement. They immediately wanted to write on the white board table, so we dove head first into using that. I pulled out the light boards with another group who enjoyed testing the brightness levels and deciding which would be best for them. Another group was eager to use the materials provided with the light boards to create alphabets, spell words, and make designs with the blocks. I allowed a day to explore all the new materials, giving the students hands-on time to learn how to use them, while allowing us to decide what the rules for these materials should be. We have been using them EVERY lesson ever since. I can't thank you enough for your generosity in providing necessary materials to engage and foster student learning.
