Your contribution has made a meaningful and lasting difference in the musical experiences of my students, and I would love to share the joy and impact your gift has brought into our learning environment.\r\n\r\nBefore this project was funded, students had limited opportunities for hands-on musical exploration. Although we learned about melody, rhythm, and notation conceptually, there is something uniquely powerful about putting music directly into a child's hands. Because of you, my students now have access to individual mini pianos that allow them to truly feel and create music rather than simply hear or observe it.\r\n\r\nThe very first day we introduced the pianos, the energy in the room shifted. Students' faces lit up with excitement as they explored the keys, discovering how pressing each note could create sound, pattern, and emotion. Some students immediately began experimenting with melodies they recognized, while others were fascinated just to hear the difference between high and low tones. Students who are typically shy or hesitant to participate surprised us with how confidently they engaged when the learning became tactile and personal.\r\n\r\nThese pianos have opened the door for so many meaningful learning moments. Students are developing fine motor coordination as they learn finger placement. They're gaining a stronger understanding of musical structure, learning to read notation, count beats, and identify pitch direction. Many have discovered they have a natural ear for melody, and others have found comfort in repetition and steady rhythm. Every student, regardless of previous musical experience, now has access to a real instrument that meets them where they are and encourages them to grow.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the most remarkable change is the shift in classroom culture. The pianos have sparked collaboration, curiosity, and joy. Students now ask thoughtful questions, help one another, and share the pride of learning new musical skills. Some of my students have started composing their own short pieces, showing creativity and confidence that they had not yet tapped into before. Others use the pianos as a calming tool, allowing the act of playing to help them regulate and refocus.\r\n\r\nYour generosity did not just provide instruments. It opened new pathways for expression, creativity, emotional development, and community. Many of my students do not have access to private lessons or instruments at home. Because of you, they now feel included in the world of music, not as observers, but as musicians.\r\n\r\nPlease know that your gift will continue to have ripple effects far beyond this school year. These pianos will be used by future classes, encouraging new learners to explore music with wonder and confidence for years to come. You have impacted not just a classroom, but a community of young musicians who now believe they are capable of creating something beautiful.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you. We are so grateful for you.","fullyFundedDate":1758848155554,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-music-to-life-at-their-fingerti/9718319/","projectTitle":"Bringing Music to Life at Their Fingertips","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fohlin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10264355"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_125346","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":351,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":2,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":91,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 7","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":76.4,"schoolId":125346,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Windham Academy Public Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Windham Academy Public Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-hampshire/new-hampshire-department-of-education/windham-academy-public-charter-school/125346"}
