When thinking about what would be essential for my first year teaching, a classroom rug has always been something I envision my classroom utilizing daily. As a class, we would be able to collaborate, interact and learn by implementing the STREAM curriculum. We would have morning meeting and calendar each day and share our thoughts and ideas all while sitting in our designated spot on the rug and learning about personal space. By having a listening center, the students will be able to read with each other, develop fluency and comprehension skills, and build phonics skills. Being able to listen and read along with the story will enhance reading skills.
