Each color tray matches one of my flexible ELA groups, and the activities inside are tailored to what those learners need most. Because everything is organized and easy to access, students can pick meaningful, skill-building literacy games independently while I work with small groups. These trays have helped every child stay engaged, confident, and focused on exactly the skills they need to grow.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened the very first day we used the trays. Students spread out around the room with huge smiles, proudly choosing activities that matched their learning goals. A few even said, \"This is just like big-kid centers!\" as they dove into letter-sorting and word-building. Watching them take ownership of their learning was incredible—the independence and excitement were immediate.\r\n\r\nThe bright, color-coded trays instantly grabbed their attention. Students loved that they could quickly find \"their color\" and begin working right away. Many of them commented on how it made their learning easier and more fun.\r\n\r\nBecause our ELA groups are flexible, students will continue moving between colors as their skills grow. I'll be rotating new literacy games and activities into each tray to match their progress—whether they're moving from letters to sounds, from sounds to blending, or from words to full sentences. These trays will help keep their practice targeted, organized, and developmentally right where they need it throughout the year.","fullyFundedDate":1758149548251,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-kindergarteners-take-ownership-o/9442831/","projectTitle":"Help My Kindergarteners Take Ownership of Their Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Conley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10068963_orig.jpg?crop=2035,2035,x203,y220&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751437838313","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10068963"},{"teacherId":2662342,"projectId":9134752,"letterContent":"I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation of punching bags for my students! They love it!\r\n\r\nOur school does what is called a \"soft start\" where students come into the building 20 minutes before the bell rings instead of playing out on the playground. They get a chance to eat breakfast and come into their classroom early where they do activities in the classroom. My students get a chance to talk with each other before the school day starts and talk with me. Some of my students, though, need more than just building with Legos or coloring, and the punching bag has really helped them. I set it up every morning before they come in and that is the first thing many students go to. I have seen a decrease in behaviors since the beginning of the year since students have been able to use the punching bag in the morning. I have told the class that if they need it, they can use it anytime during the day. \r\nThank you again! This will be loved and used daily for the entire school year!","fullyFundedDate":1750256116555,"projectUrl":"project/my-students-need-a-way-to-release-their/9134752/","projectTitle":"My Students Need a Way to Release Their Frustration","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ouellette","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2662342"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54676","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":491,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":36,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":38,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":49,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":64.8,"schoolId":54676,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Silver Lake Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Silver Lake Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/washoe-county-school-district/silver-lake-elementary-school/54676"}
