I have been able to fix so many of my class library books. I am now able to provide a more flexible seating chpices to my students. Either from bent covers or little page rips that were getting bigger. Now I can will make them last a little bit longer until it is time to retire them.\r\n\r\nStarting the new year with these materials has truly been a blessing. From the moment they first saw the resources, they were excited to investigate, create, and discover. One of my favorite moments happened while a student was exploring the microscope slides. He was so engaged that he said, \"If my mom wanted me off my phone, she should get me this!\" It was wonderful to see how something as simple as having the right materials could spark so much curiosity and excitement about learning.\r\n\r\nThese STEM manipulatives have also given my students an opportunity to explore their creativity, which is something that we unfortunatlely don't always have enough time for during our busy school day. Students are able to experiment, build, problem-solve, and learn through hands-on exploration. The materials have even become an incentive for students to stay engaged and complete their classwork because they look forward to having time to explore and create with them.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue incorporating these resources into our classroom learning and giving students opportunities to investigate STEM concepts through hands-on experiences. This has been a beneficial addition to Risley's instrumentarium. \r\n\r\nAgnes Risley Elementary has spent the last few years rebuilding its instrumentarium. When I first got to this school, I was greeted with a range of fair quality (at best) to poor quality instruments. The school opened in 1964, and I was told that many of the instruments that were in my classroom were purchased in the 70s, 80s, or 90s. Many of the instruments in my inventory were damaged, or there were fundamental pieces missing. All students deserve a quality music education, which includes using quality tools to make music. I felt it was a disservice to my students to have the dilapidated instruments we had.\r\n\r\nThrough the many partnerships the Nevada Department of Education has had with DonorsChoose, Risley has been able to vastly expand its instrument inventory. First, we got lots of new unpitched percussion instruments. Then, we got a new xylophone. Now, we have these rolling carts, which makes music-making in the classroom a much more flexible experience.
