Because of you, our Medical Detectives students now have skeleton models they can examine up close while learning the bones of the human body—literally. Instead of just memorizing names from a textbook, students can hold, observe, and investigate real models as they work to understand how the skeletal system fits together. The brain model you provided is also an incredible addition to our lab experience. When students dissect a sheep brain, they will be able to compare it directly to the human brain model, helping them visualize how structure relates to function. It's already sparking curiosity, great questions, and a few \"wow, that's actually what it looks like?!\" moments.\r\n\r\nYour support has also made a huge impact in our Introduction to Agriculture class. Students recently built a brooder in preparation for the chicks they will be hatching in the coming weeks, and they are counting down the days until their new feathered classmates arrive. The egg candler has added another layer of excitement—students are fascinated to see the development happening inside the eggs while they are in the incubator. Watching the growth process in real time has turned a lesson into an unforgettable experience.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, students won't just read about science and agriculture—they'll see it, build it, and experience it firsthand. From examining skeletons and brains to watching chicks grow from eggs to fluffy hatchlings and eventually into feathered young birds in the brooder, these hands-on tools are bringing learning to life. Many of my students spend most of their day in general education classes where learning can feel challenging and sometimes frustrating. Having these materials gives them a chance to decompress, play a quick game together, and reset before getting back to their schoolwork.\r\nThe day the boxes arrived was such a fun moment. The students were excited to open everything and immediately started asking if we could try the games. What I loved most was seeing students who usually keep to themselves begin interacting with others, laughing, and working together. During one of our first \"circle\" times, a group of students played a simple game while sharing snacks, and the room was full of conversation and smiles. Moments like that help build trust, which makes it easier for them to ask for help with assignments or talk about what's going on in their day.\r\nThese resources are now part of our regular routine. After we check grades, work on missing assignments, or review classwork, students can earn time to participate in our circle activities. It has helped motivate them to complete work while also strengthening social skills like taking turns, communicating respectfully, and encouraging one another.\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using the games and activities as part of our social-emotional learning time in Study Skills. The goal is not only to support academics but also to help students develop confidence, friendships, and a positive connection to school.\r\nThank you again for caring about my students and for helping create a classroom environment where they feel welcomed, supported, and valued. Your kindness truly made a difference for them.","fullyFundedDate":1769456537712,"projectUrl":"project/circle-of-fun-games-snacks-and-connec/10041062/","projectTitle":"Circle of Fun: Games, Snacks, and Connection","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Magdaraog","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9475951"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_83034","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":481,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":53,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":40,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"19.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":64.0,"schoolId":83034,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Winnemucca Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Winnemucca Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/humboldt-county-school-district/winnemucca-junior-high-school/83034"}
