Common Core Mathematical Practices include students being able to use tools proficiently. Using a calculator to check work for accuracy and becoming proficient with the use of this tool is an important part of students showing proficiency in mathematics. I have a number of students who are showing gaps in their learning because of the COVID pandemic, using calculators helps to fill some of the computational gaps and helps students to proceed with learning the grade level curriculum. My students will be positively affected by these materials in the classroom.
