When my students first saw the new book sets, their eyes lit up with excitement. They immediately recognized familiar characters like Pete the Cat and Biscuit and couldn't wait to start reading. We gathered together to explore the books, and I watched as students eagerly flipped through pages, pointed out details in the illustrations, and began retelling stories using their own words. It was such a joyful and meaningful moment that reminded me how powerful access to great books can be.\r\n\r\nWe are now using these books every day during read-alouds, small group instruction, and independent reading time. The phonics-based books have been especially impactful, allowing students to practice decoding skills in a way that feels fun and achievable. I've already seen students build confidence as they reread familiar texts and begin to recognize patterns, sight words, and sounds. These book sets have also sparked wonderful conversations around emotions and friendships, helping strengthen our classroom community.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students are not only learning how to read—they are learning to love reading. Our next steps include continuing to build stamina during independent reading, deepening comprehension through discussion, and helping students apply their phonics skills to new texts. Your generosity has created lasting opportunities for growth, confidence, and joy in our classroom, and we are so incredibly thankful.","fullyFundedDate":1768113091018,"projectUrl":"project/building-big-readers-with-beloved-book-s/9995727/","projectTitle":"Building Big Readers with Beloved Book Sets","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bales","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8133355_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1634564066848","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msmcclellan"},{"teacherId":10323425,"projectId":9847220,"letterContent":"First off I want to say thank you again. My children have been having a blast being able to learn through the materials that were given to us from your generosity. We are able to use the materials in many different ways. The light table was a fun thing for the children to experience. It also gave them a new way to learn. The light table paired with the container that goes with it was amazing. We were able to incorporate a sensory aspect with sand. The students were finding the alphabet and putting the letters in order. \r\nWe were also able to use all of the science kits. The students like to go through them and see what else can be done. They love being able to experience science in such a hands on way. The marble building kit was amazing. The students liked to see how they can build it differently to make the marbles go faster or slower. My students were so excited because of all the new materials.","fullyFundedDate":1766110512044,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning-activities/9847220/","projectTitle":"Hands on Learning Activities","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bishop","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10323425"},{"teacherId":8161942,"projectId":9999656,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has been completely transformed into an organized, student-centered learning environment. The storage organizers, cubes, and drawer carts are now an essential part of our daily routine. Each learning center has a clearly defined space, and students are able to independently access and return materials with ease. One special moment that stood out was during center time when a student proudly told me, \"I know where everything goes now—I can clean up all by myself!\" This simple statement reflected such a big shift in confidence and independence.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their excitement was immediate and contagious. They were eager to explore each bin and quickly began taking ownership of their classroom. Instead of needing constant reminders, students now work together to keep our space clean and organized. I've noticed a significant improvement in transitions between activities, as students are more focused and less distracted by clutter. They are also developing important life skills such as responsibility, cooperation, and pride in their learning environment.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these resources will continue to support hands-on learning and independence in our classroom. We are currently using our organized centers to support literacy and math activities, where students rotate through tasks such as building words, counting with manipulatives, and collaborative play. Because materials are now accessible and well-organized, students are able to spend more time engaged in meaningful learning. Your support has not only improved our classroom space, but has also empowered my students to become confident, responsible learners. The students had so much fun and were actively engaged in looking at the natural environment for over 45 minutes. \r\nWe are going to be hatching butterflies next and I can't wait for students to be able to observe the process! It also gives my students an opportunity to be exposed to equipment that they might not have access to at their houses.
