My students have missed so much learning in their pre-K and Kindergarten years due to Covid. They really love to learn and want to be great readers and writers. They are really struggling with the foundations of reading: phonics (what do letters sound like), phonemic awareness (the ability to identify and manipulate sounds to make words), and those tricky sight words (the ones that cannot be sounded out). Items such as sight word bingo, Touch and Read Cards, and magnetic letters will give my students the opportunities to work in centers, small groups and one on one with me, giving them them the extra, fun, exciting push to becoming great readers.
