Each student set up a photo booth with various found objects and experimented with backgrounds, lighting and different types of cameras. The students I serve are students with disabilities who often find traditional classroom settings stressful, exhausting, and overwhelming due to the fast pace and rigid structure of general education classrooms. Because of your support, my classroom now offers an alternative environment where students do not have to sit at traditional desks, but instead can choose a comfortable chair or couch where they feel more at ease and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThis seating has made a meaningful difference for my students. Many of them struggle with social challenges, mental health concerns, and a persistent feeling that school is not a place where they truly belong. Other classrooms can feel cold and overly structured, which makes it difficult for these students to relax and be themselves. In my room, students are able to decompress, feel less stressed, and focus not only on academics but also on their mental health. The flexible seating has helped create a space that feels welcoming, calming, and safe.\r\n\r\nThe impact has already been incredible. Students often tell me that my classroom feels relaxing and inviting, and they have proudly laid claim to the furniture as \"their own.\" Knowing they have a place—even for just an hour or two a day—where they can recharge, feel accepted, and then continue their school day has been truly powerful.
